If you’re a recent founder or someone who’s thinking about embarking on a business venture, there’s no better place to start than with those who have been there, done that, and got the t-shirt.

Whether it's practical tips on what productivity tools to use, hiring advice to help you build amazing teams, identifying rookie mistakes before it’s too late, or hearing about how people train their mindsets to push through the tough times, drawing inspiration from experienced founders is invaluable to anyone who’s starting out.

So, if only there was a friendly-faced gentleman by the name of Ross Tuffee who hosted a podcast that invites experienced Scottish founders to share their stories with the world…

Introducing Founder.scot

As of May 2022, Ross has launched the first few episodes of an ongoing podcast series that aims to shine a light on the founding journeys of some of Scotland’s most exciting entrepreneurial minds.

When we quizzed Ross about his decision to pick up the mic and start on this new journey, he explained that so much of his learning has come from the generosity of those around him and the willingness of others to openly share their experiences – helping him to think differently about the opportunities and issues he’s faced along the way.

Ross is a firm believer in the power of peer-to-peer collaboration and learning to drive impactful change and hopes this podcast will foster a supportive environment that facilitates free-flowing knowledge across a network of founders in Scotland and beyond.

How Can I Get Involved?

Ross has made it very clear from the outset that, at its core, Founder.scot is a startup venture. He views the podcast and all of the infrastructure that sits around it as a technical product – describing this “initial release” as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that he and his team will iterate upon from both a content and technical perspective.

In the spirit of a true startup founder, therefore, Ross is practising what his guests preach by inviting listeners to provide honest feedback and welcoming ideas (however off-the-wall they may be) about how the podcast should evolve.

As well as providing a valuable resource for listeners to learn from others, this venture also presents an exciting opportunity to build a diverse and inclusive community around a shared passion for entrepreneurship.

To join the conversation, head on over to the Founder.scot group on Community Lab to collaborate with a growing huddle of ambitious founders. We invite you to join other founders (including those in the Founder.scot podcast) and share your thoughts, ideas and questions with like-minded people.
