January. Did anyone else feel like it had about 60 days? Between the wild storms here in Scotland, the constant flow of political updates, and those mind-blowing AI leaps, it felt like this month had 60 days. But, at Community Lab, we're all about community, and we know how important it is to connect, especially during those extra long months. So, while the world was spinning (and January was dragging on), we have been busy bees, upgrading our platform to make it even better in the year ahead.
General Platform upgrade
Most importantly, essential security upgrades took place. These upgrades are crucial for protecting data and ensuring the platform remains a safe and reliable space for communities. They safeguard against potential vulnerabilities and help maintain the integrity of the platform.
The platform has been upgraded in terms of file sharing, which will make it easier to manage resource uploads, making it easier to share documents that help the group thrive. This streamlined process will save time and effort when sharing important files with the community members. The general speed of the platform has increased, which is a welcome improvement, especially in the chat and home page, with additional improvements to file previews. This means faster loading times and a smoother overall experience for everyone using the platform.
The upgrade has also allowed us to access new features that will come to Community Lab in due time – keep your eyes peeled! We'll soon be rolling out features that will change the way you interact with your community.
New event page
We are working on understanding how to help communities get together and facilitate organizing in person. Part of this is being able to see all the events available to attendees in one place. As the first step, we created an Events page where you will be able to see the events your groups are offering. This centralised location makes it easy for members to discover and register for upcoming events, fostering greater engagement within your community.
Resources
All resources now have a field for descriptions, and enables group members to provide context and clarity for community members. It helps them quickly understand what each resource is about and how it can be useful to them, making it easier for them to find the information they need.
Paginated chats: This feature is crucial for managing large chat volumes. By breaking chats into pages, it improves loading times and makes it much easier to navigate through conversations, ensuring you don't miss important messages and can easily find past discussions.
Improvements in clusters
These improvements enhance the organisation and management of community groups, making it easier to navigate and find relevant information within different clusters.
Register page
It should be easier now to set up passwords, we have updated the rules and validation.
If there are things you would like to see on the platform or have any feedback, chat with us over at our Help Hub.
Happy shortest month of the year :)
