Empowering 20,000+ Frontline Carers
PRISM by The Lens on Community Lab
As part of an ongoing project between The Lens and a Scottish Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP), Community Lab enabled the delivery of a pioneering intraprenuership programme to thousands of frontline carers.
The Lens’ revolutionary PRISM programme takes carers through directed learning modules that help carers turn first-hand experiences into investment-ready propositions — presenting HSCPs with actionable ideas to help people live well, at home, for longer.
Why was Community Lab used?
Hosting PRISM on Community Lab enables innovation at scale — leveraging a diversity of voices across cohorts and encouraging collaboration between learners with different ideas, perspectives, confidence levels, and skills. Community Lab provides frontline carers with a safe space to turn ideas into action, and HSCPs with an affordable, self-generating innovation model.
How is Community Lab used?
Community Lab groups are used to house each learning module — using the resources section to host all learning materials. Our resources section is designed for easy consumption as members progress through their individual learning journeys.
Clustering these groups forms an online school that doubles as a community with both synchronous chat and asynchronous post functionality to support self-directed learning. A showcase group it used to present video pitches and welcome feedback from the wider community.
What was the impact of this collaboration?
Over 300 ideas and innovations were taken to the presentation stage after thousands of users engaged with learning programme. Thousands of chats, posts and replies sparked collaboration across a huge cohort of carers.
“This has changed my life…in a good way. I’ve gained so much, especially my confidence. The experience will stay with me for the rest of my life." “It was such a supportive environment throughout the process by all, and built confidence. I’ve since used the tools to apply for funding for another project, and it worked. We got the funding!”
